Gladys Symons’ Creative Practice

My artistic approach is abstract and semi-abstract in nature. My paintings invite exploration and interpretation, seeking to capture the spirit of the subject, rather than attempting to reproduce its image. My artwork always takes on a life of its own. I sometimes know from whence I began, but I am never certain of the direction in which my work will go. It is truly a creative process, at times intimidating, always challenging and in the end exhilarating, but never dull.
